MBBC SKATEBOARDING
Learn To Skateboard 5 Week Program
Service Description
We are very excited to introduce Skateboarding to Moreton Bay Boys College Sport! Every Wednesday morning from 7:00am - 8:00am Starting April 17th Skateboarding is a dynamic sport that combines creativity, athleticism, and a deep connection with your board. It emerged in the 1950s as a form of surfing on land, and has since evolved into a global phenomenon with its own unique culture, style, and community. Skateboarding offers individuals a means of self-expression, an outlet for physical activity, and an opportunity to push personal boundaries. In 2020, Skateboarding made its debut in the Olympics as an official sport, leading to a surge in its popularity. Australian skaters Keegan Palmer, Kieran Wooley, and Shane O’Neil participated, with Keegan winning the Men’s park Gold. Skateboarding is a unique sport, often seen as an art form, offering the freedom to practice anywhere, anytime, alone, with friends, or as part of a team. It's about celebrating individuality and personal expression. Pavement Skateboard Coaching will offer skateboarding as part of the school sport program in term 2 for 5 weeks at Moreton Bay Boys College for 14 participants. All equipment, including skateboards, helmets, elbow pads, and knee pads, will be provided. Participants will learn the basics of beginner skateboarding, covering stance, balance, foot placement, pushing, rolling, stopping, turning, and more. Small ramps and obstacles will be introduced as the participants progress.
